A History of Vermont Glassmaking $16 plus $3.00 S+H A History of Vermont Glassmaking provides a detailed
look at one of Vermont's earliest industries. Chartered in 1811 and
located on the shores of Lake Dunmore in Salisbury, the Vermont Glass
Factory was the first of its kind in the state and among the earliest in
New England. Follow its addition of a branch in East Middlebury,
failure and eventual return to join the Champlain Glass Company, which
expired in 1850. The art returned in the 1960's, when young blowers
began to open individual shops and then blossomed under Simon Pearce who
moved his company from Ireland to Eastern Vermont at Quechee in
1981. His handblown glass products have built his company into a
highly successful operation. |
